I wanted to be an army-veterinarian-singer. Maybe an astronaut as well. Later, I was almost positive that botany was my vocation. I finally settled and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art (University of Cape Town) in 2014.

I worked as a part-time receptionist at a law firm and at a beauty salon while I was studying, then I started freelancing as a graphic designer. I went on to work full-time at graphic design firm FelineGraphics and was doing web design in my free time. Back then I used to cycle to work every day.

In 2016, I applied to study Master of Contemporary Art at a university in Arctic Norway, but didn’t make it past the interview stage (I was really nervous). That’s OK, I didn’t get accepted first time I applied for my BA either! I left my graphic design job anyway to pursue my own endeavours – I did some pretty fun stuff as Founder Digital Design and learnt a lot along the way.

As the master of my own destiny (well, my own schedule at least), I began teaching primary school chess at a local farm school and tutoring a thirteen-year-old in 2017. It finally dawned on me that I have a passion for teaching and helping others build their confidence through learning.

So, here I am now. I recently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Tertiary Education (University of South Africa) and have embarked on a Masters degree in Art Education (Stellenbosch University), all while working full-time as a Product Marketing Manager at the best job ever – a startup called Hi5.
